Maria Korevaar

Hi! I am Maria Korevaar, RMT. I graduated from D’Arcy Lane Institute of Massage Therapy in London, Ontario in May of 2013.  I started going to college the January after I graduated from high school. Since I started in January, I did the massage therapy program in 17 months!  I then completed my certification exams in May and June of 2013 and received my Certificate in July 2013.

I grew up just outside of Norwich on a cash crop farm as the oldest of nine children.  We always had a dog, cats and a rabbit. I bought my first horse when I was in grade 10.  She is still living at my parents place and now my sisters enjoy her!  I attended the Rehoboth Christian School in Norwich from Kindergarten through Grade 12.  During high school I worked at a retirement home, on a dairy farm and also at a horse farm!  One of  my grade 12 co-op placements was at a massage clinic in Simcoe; which is where I got my first taste of what it would be like to be an RMT!

Currently I live with my husband and son on a one acre property just ten minutes south of Norwich.  We have several rabbits and a beagle.  We have talked about someday having chickens and an indoor bird as well.  We got married in June of 2014 and my son was born in April of 2015.  We really enjoy where we live now and are hoping to remain here for a long time!

Now, getting to the really important stuff: why I became a massage therapist.  I really enjoy being around people and find that whenever I get a massage, I feel wonderful.  I wanted to help other people feel the same way!  Most people these days are too busy and need to take time for themselves.  Massage provides that opening!  I really enjoy helping people feel better.  Another reason I became an RMT is the flexibility.  Being able to work different hours an different days is important to me, especially now that I have a family.  Who wants to work from nine to five if they can get away with working from eleven to six? 😉

Hope to meet you in person soon!
